What is Genetic Fallacy?
The literal definition:
"Genetic": meaning "tending to occur among members of a family usually by heredity"
"Fallacy": derived from the Latin word "fallere" meaning "to deceive, to trip, to lead into error, to trick.”
Genetic fallacy, known as "fallacy of origins", is a fallacy where a conclusion is based only on something's origin rather than its meaning or context.
**In other words, the origin from where an idea was derived heavily influences its validity in an argument.**
This sort of "reasoning" has two forms:
- The origin of a claim or thing is presented.
- The claim is true(or false) or the thing is supported (or discredited).
